According to statistics from China Film Co-production Companies, in 2016, 89 co-production feature films were approved, an increase of 9 from 80 in the previous year, a new high in the number of co-production films approved over the years.

Among them, 54 films were co-produced between the mainland and Hong Kong, 10 films were co-produced between China and the United States, and 8 films were co-produced between the mainland and Taiwan, accounting for 81% of all co-produced films approved.
