Summer Solstice Music Day is an emerging cultural project that covers music, dance, folk crafts, creative markets, cultural exchanges and other aspects. Its form is freer and more folk than traditional music festivals.

The Chinese and foreign musicians who participated in the exchanges in Dafang, Guizhou brought many branches of modern music, including the new gold heavy rhythm with a thunderous rhythm, ethnic fusion music representing Guizhou's local Nuo culture, wild gypsy cultural inheritors, happy reggae music singers, and post-shaking instrumental players deeply influenced by modern thoughts. They use rock music as a medium to dialogue with ancient Yi folk music and experience Vulcan culture. The works incorporate individuals 'understanding of natural creatures. In 1982, Jack Lang, then French Minister of Culture, founded Summer Solstice Music Day-a grand free music carnival, during which various forms of music such as jazz, pop music, rock music, classical music and world music were staged in turn, and great success has been achieved since the first session.

Nowadays, countries around the world hold Summer Solstice Music Days, including 450 cities in more than 100 countries on five continents. In the past eight years, China has also held Summer Solstice Music Days in several cities.

The original intention of launching Summer Solstice Music Day is to promote live music performances, allow the broadest public to enjoy music performances for free, and provide a real platform for new bands and musicians to showcase their talents through live music performances.

, organized by the French Embassy in China, is one of the annual "Sino-French Cultural Spring" projects, which has grown rapidly in recent years thanks to the support of several national partners (especially Le Coq Sportif, Kronenbourg 1664) and the active participation of local partners.

Twelve years ago, China Summer Solstice Music Day was founded in Wuhan and has since expanded to the whole country year by year. Every year, French bands, China bands and foreign bands in China are invited to various parts of the country to provide free performances for audiences on the Summer Solstice Music Day.

In 2017, a total of 197 concerts were held during the Music Day. About 220,000 viewers came to enjoy the performances, and more than 3 million viewers watched live videos online. Among the cultural projects of the French Embassy in China, Summer Solstice Music Day is undoubtedly the most eye-catching and appealing.

This year, the Alliance Francophonie will also help the embassy to promote Summer Solstice Music Day more widely. From June 15 to 24, 2018, 13 cities will hold Summer Solstice Music Days, and more than 300 free concerts will be held across the country. Whether it is classical music, modern music, jazz, pop music, or electronic music, all music lovers can find love in it.

In order to highlight the happy atmosphere of the Torch Festival and celebrate the official completion of Shexiang Ancient Town, this Summer Solstice Music Day Dafang Station is divided into two seasons. The first season consists of eight well-known bands with different styles, including Jin Band, Shennam, Miche, Freelancer, Danney Girl, Pink Pick, 30th North Latitude, and Chiyou, who are active in major music festivals across the country. On the 23rd and 24th, the overture flames were lit up in the Bonfire Square of Shexiang Ancient Town; during the Torch Festival in August, many foreign bands will gather together to play the strongest sound of summer!
