"Monster Hunt" directed by Xu Chengyi not long ago has become very popular in China's film market, earning more than 2.4 billion yuan in box office, becoming the highest-grossing film in China so far. As early as 1994 when DreamWorks Animation was established, Xu Chengyi had maintained close cooperation with DreamWorks Animation and participated in many DreamWorks Animation projects as an animator. He was the chief animator of the animation giant "Shrek" and co-directed the world-grossing movie "Shrek 3", with a total global box office of more than US$800 million.

In 1989, Xu Chengyi joined the American Pacific Digital Imaging Company (PDI) as an animator. As part of DreamWorks SKG's acquisition of PDI at the time, Xu Chengyi officially joined DreamWorks Animation in 2000. Since 1998, as animation director, he has participated in the production of many of DreamWorks Animation's most successful animated films, including "Little Ant Hero","Shrek","Shrek 2", etc. Since 2007, Xu Chengyi has been promoted to director and co-directed "Shrek 3". Later, he has also directed the production of several animated special and short films, including "Kung Fu Panda-The Secret of the Furious Five","Shrek's Halloween Game","Puss in Boots: The Three Cute Cat Musketeers", etc. "Monster Hunt" directed by Xu Chengyi not long ago has become the highest-grossing film in China history so far.
