New regulations for TV dramas may be implemented on October 1 to strengthen prime-time censorship
According to the newly circulated censorship policy, TV dramas that need to be reviewed by provincial propaganda departments are limited to TV dramas broadcast in prime time, and non-pornographic TV dramas are not included.
Information about the new regulations on TV drama censorship has spread widely. Recently, the information has been further clarified: after October 1, the review process of the local provincial party committee's propaganda department will be added before the broadcast of prime time TV dramas; CCTV TV dramas must submit the play broadcast plan to the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China 6 months in advance, and submit it for film review three months in advance.Judging from the censorship regulations, the authority of the State Administration, which has one-sided negative news on the Internet, has been reduced. However, the market may be colder.
According to the newly circulated censorship policy, TV dramas that need to be reviewed by provincial propaganda departments are limited to TV dramas broadcast in prime time, and non-pornographic TV dramas are not included. For example, the popular "Hua Qian Gu","Ancient Sword Qi Tan", and "Ming Ruoxi" are not included.
All TV dramas previously broadcast by CCTV must be reported to the Central Propaganda Department for review and approval. Therefore, the impact is not significant. However, since the broadcast plan is submitted six months in advance and the film review is completed three months in advance, the probability of three consecutive dramas being withdrawn within one month may be greatly reduced.
Industry insiders believe that the introduction of the new review policies is related to many broadcast accidents that occurred in the first half of the year, including "Wu Meiniang is too big" and "hiding thunder in her crotch". In the eyes of industry insiders, although the State Administration of Science and Technology is always in a position of criticism on the Internet, compared with other management departments, the scale of the radio and television department is relatively loose; the establishment of the radio and television department in China is relatively complex, and it also accepts the management of vertical systems within the radio and television industry, as well as the management of the local propaganda department; the introduction of this management policy has strengthened dual management and reduced the authority of the State Administration.
From the perspective of broadcasting and production, this change in the censorship system will be more troublesome for affiliated TV stations-the censorship standards of propaganda departments in different places may vary, and the "joint broadcast" of TV dramas may become more troublesome. As for Hunan Satellite TV, which has always been broadcast alone, it is widely rumored in the industry that Hunan Radio and Television has a good relationship with the Propaganda Department of the Hunan Provincial Party Committee and may be the least affected.
