On December 5, Yang Chaoyue suspected of responding on a social networking site to being ridiculed by Internet celebrity Lin Xiaozhai's tweet. She updated her homepage profile: "No one can hate the three words Yang Chaoyue more than me." Later, she revised the introduction and commented in one of the Short Video: "It's not a big deal. Don't argue about anything today. This is my request for everyone to break up. My mood problem is my own problem, I'm sorry."

In June 2018, Internet celebrity Lin Xiaozhai forwarded a Weibo suspected to embody Yang Chaoyue's strength. Recently, the Weibo account was exposed, causing a dispute. Lin Xiaozhai then publicly apologized on Weibo.
