From 2006 to 2016, the total national box office increased from less than 3 billion yuan to more than 44 billion yuan, growing into the world's second largest film market. At the same time, Enlight Media has also completed a total box office of more than 20 billion yuan in 10 years and 91 films. As the absolute first echelon among film companies, Enlight Media has not only witnessed the explosion in the past 10 years, but also fully enjoyed the dividends brought by the rapid growth of China's film market.

In 2016, the films produced by Enlight Media achieved a total box office of 6.42 billion yuan, of which domestic film box office accounted for more than 20% of the total domestic film box office in 2016, maintaining its leading position in the industry for three consecutive years. In the same year, the films "Mermaid" and "Big Fish Begonia", which were controlled and participated in the production, broke the box office record of domestic films and ranked second in the box office of domestic animated films respectively.

When talking about film companies, we can't get around Light Media; when talking about movies, we can't get around the films produced by Light that have repeatedly broken box office records.

The legendary "most diligent and stingy" boss

Seeing is better than hearing. Two months ago, I happened to bump into Wang Changtian, who had just completed an investor exchange, in the underground parking lot. He walked to the parking lot alone to pick up his car. There was really no driver.

As of the close of 15:00 today, Enlight Media's total market value was 24.4 billion yuan. Wang Changtian indirectly held 41.85% of the equity of the listed company through Enlight Holdings, with a value exceeding 10 billion yuan.

In fact, the title of "the most diligent and stingy boss in the industry" stems from Wang Changtian's self-deprecation. In an open letter to the company's employees at the end of 2016, Wang Changtian bluntly said: "I will continue to be the most diligent and stingy boss in this industry."

However, while the boss promised to be "stingy", he also promised to increase the salary of Light's employees by an average of 20% during the year on the basis of the average salary increase of 15% at the beginning of the year.

At the investor exchange meeting in April this year, Wang Changtian spent more than three hours detailing his past, present and future prospects for Enlight Media, and proposed the goal of "total box office of 8 billion yuan in 2017." In Wang Changtian's view, the "six major" of China's film and television industry will take shape in the next 3 to 5 years, and Light Media will certainly not be absent.

In addition to the development of endogenous film production and distribution sectors, Enlight Media's outreach mergers and acquisitions in recent years have also been very interesting. Last year, Enlight Media and its controlling shareholder jointly acquired Cat's Eye shocked the industry. As an important step in Enlight Media's layout of channels, whether it is increasing its holdings of Cat's Eye in the future or an independent IPO of Cat's Eye, it will make Enlight Media very interesting.
