Original title: Interview| Yang Yong, editor-in-chief of iQiyi Literature: Internet literature IP will usher in an era of

intensive cultivation Yang Yong, online names Yang Ali, Ali Ge Ge, writer, editor-in-chief of iQiyi Literature. Born in Qixia, Shandong Province in 1980, after graduating from the Chinese Department of Nanjing University in 2005, he worked in Tencent, Shanda Literature, Amazon China Kindle and other companies, engaged in online literature and digital publishing.

He is now a member of the China Writers Association and has published works: children's literature "The Elephant World of Little Ants", novels "I Wait for You on the Street of the Future","Go to the City","Migration", travel notes "Live Up to the Good Times", a collection of essays "My Friends and I Are Stunned", a theoretical monograph "Introduction to the History of China Campus Literature" and a biography "Forging Steel", etc., and a number of selected books have been compiled.

China's "Internet Literature +" Conference will be held in Beijing from August 11th to 13th. Recently, the reporter interviewed Yang Yong, editor-in-chief of iQiyi Literature. Yang Yong said that the key to the development of online literature is that it is easier for users to obtain stories, read them more conveniently, and the interaction between authors and readers is more direct. Online literature has brought relatively valuable upgrades to China literature. Nowadays, literature is more down-to-earth and loved by readers.

Reporter: Online literature has gone through 20 years of development. How do you evaluate these 20 years? What do you think is the key to the development of online literature?

Yang Yong: The word "network" has been added to online literature. The driving and upgrading of technology and the Internet have changed the form of entertainment and the reading carrier, but the essence of literature and stories remains unchanged. In my opinion, the key to the development of online literature is that it is easier for users to obtain stories, read them more conveniently, and the interaction between authors and readers is more direct. In the past, editors from magazines and publishing houses reviewed article by article, but now the Internet provides a relatively broad and open space. This has allowed online literature to bring a relatively valuable upgrade to China literature. Nowadays, literature is more down-to-earth and more loved by readers. I have a point that it is easier to produce literary classics similar to the Four Great Classics in this environment. In fact, many online writers have begun to continue the narrative tradition of writing China novels, not only the creative techniques, but also the spiritual core of the works.

Reporter: What keys did iQiyi Literature grasp when laying out its online literature business?

Yang Yong: Iqiyi itself is a distribution platform and a producer of film and television content. It has the inherent advantages of doing online literature. The vision is to be a great entertainment company driven by technological innovation, so iQiyi uses literature as its source and uses literature to drive film and television. Most of our users switch from watching film and television works to reading novels. These users have a better understanding of the characteristics of film and television. We believe that when the work is adapted into a film and television work, it will be loved by more users. This is the kind of Internet feeling we emphasize.

Reporter: There are reports that the era of barbaric growth of Internet literature "IP" is coming to an end. What era do you think the IP development of Internet literature will usher in?

Yang Yong: I don't think the era of barbaric growth of "IP" is over. The demand for IP has always been there and will become bigger and bigger. Instead, the era of barbaric buying of IP is over. Because most of the big IP addresses of online literature accumulated in the past 20 years have been robbed, the IP of online literature will usher in an era of intensive cultivation. Iqiyi Literature is also studying various genres to deliver different works for various chains of film, television and games. For example, in June, the third uncle of Nanpai was invited to a literary forum at the Iqiyi World Congress. He said that in fact, the subscription income of his works on the Internet is not high, but it has now proved that its IP value is great and it has also achieved excellent economic benefits. At the time, we joked that he was almost the spokesperson of our business because we insisted on making all writers who didn't add water get better. We launched a literary experimental field at the beginning of our business for IP incubation.

Reporter: From a corporate perspective, how do you view the integrated development of online literature?

Yang Yong: The integrated development of online literature is very necessary. The more prosperous it is, the more open it is and the more cooperation it needs. In this regard, iQiyi Literature has always maintained the principle of doing business with open doors. I once joked that we actually have no competitors, because all literary CPs, all authors, all film and television producers, and all links in the chain are our friends.

Reporter: How do you evaluate the convening of the first China "Internet Literature +" Conference?

Yang Yong: China's online literature has made many achievements today, but there are also some issues that need to be discussed. It is very meaningful to hold the China "Internet Literature +" conference during this period. Moreover, this conference is guided by the government and is different from other conferences in that the conference adheres to market-oriented operations.

Reporter: How do you plan to participate in this conference?

Yang Yong: The Iqiyi Cultural Society actively participated in and cooperated with this conference, giving full play to its advantages to share some content of the linkage and collaboration of literature, film and television. We will also host a forum on the themes of film, television and online literature. Welcome to the meeting to communicate with us. In addition, we will also participate in some aspects of other sub-forums and seek more cooperation opportunities with participating companies.

Reporter: What are your expectations for the conference?

Yang Yong: I am very much looking forward to our cooperation with more companies at the conference, and we also hope to give full play to our advantages and specialties. Thank you all for playing our role in this conference and the entire entertainment ecosystem.

Reporter: Please send a blessing to the China "Internet Literature +" Conference.

Yang Yong: I hope that China's "Internet Literature +" Conference will bloom in a hundred flowers.
