Kunqu Opera "Zhao's Orphan" group meeting was held at the rehearsal ground of Beijing North Kunqu Opera Theater. Yang Fengyi, president of the Northern Kunqu Opera Troupe, Liu Gang, secretary of the North Kunqu Opera Troupe, and other people from the industry attended the group building conference. Also present were national first-class director Xu Chunlan, national first-class composer Wang Dayuan, vice president of China stage Art Society Liu Xinglin, national first-class costume designer Lan Ling and national first-class actors Yuan Guoliang and Gu Weiying.

"Zhao Orphan" has been presented to the audience in Beijing Opera, Yue Opera, Henan Opera, movies, TV dramas and other versions, and has been adapted into foreign dramas. As early as the 17th century, as the first Chinese drama introduced into Europe, Zhao's Orphan of Yuan Zaju was adapted as "Chinese Orphan" by the French writer Voltaire, and it was regarded as an unprecedented classic comparable to Hamlet by the world art world. Its "spirit of saving orphans" has a far-reaching impact in the West. Although there are many kinds of plays mentioned above, only Kunqu Opera is missing. In order to make up for this vacancy and to show the historical features of the repertoire more comprehensively, the Northern Kunqu Opera Theater launched the creation and arrangement of the play "Zhao's Orphan".

Group interview: when asked, compared with other traditional cultures, Kunqu Opera has gradually entered the public view in recent years. What relevant popularization and promotion has been done by the school? Yang Fengyi, dean, said that in recent years, the Northern Kunqu Opera Theater has been popularizing Kunqu Opera, and young actors often go to the National Grand Theater to give lectures on Kunqu Opera. Including the national tour, Kunqu Opera into the community, national art into the campus and other activities are being carried out. It is gratifying to note that compared with the loss of audience of other operas in Chinese traditional culture, the audience of Kunqu Opera tends to be younger and has become a cultural fashion. In recent years, in society, Kunqu Opera has such a good atmosphere and audience feedback, it is inseparable from the joint efforts of the performers.

Kunqu Opera the play has entered the rehearsal stage and will be solemnly premiered at Beijing Poly Theater before the Spring Festival on February 12, 2018. It will be examined and evaluated by experts, scholars and fans across the country.
