Today, the film "East Pole Island" co-directed by Guan Hu and Fei Zhenxiang released a "Salute to China" poster, which froze the scene of British prisoners of war paying solemn military salute to China fishermen. This respect is to the blood and kindness in the bones of the Chinese people, and to the responsibility of a great country that never forgets to help the needy in times of crisis. During World War II, the Japanese army often requisitioned cargo ships to secretly transport prisoners of war to various parts of Japan as labor. In 1942, a Japanese cargo ship loaded with 1816 British prisoners of war was accidentally sunk in the waters near Zhoushan, China. In order to destroy the "living evidence", the Japanese army not only did not rescue them, but instead ordered the cabin to be blocked and thousands of lives sank with the ship. At a desperate moment, a group of fishermen from the East Pole Island resolutely came forward and used fishing boats to save 384 lives. Regardless of language and nationality, regardless of cost and reward, just because of the sentence,"If there is a danger at sea, we will save it." The simplicity and kindness of China fishermen attracted many viewers to sigh: "That rescue was a reflection of the blood and kindness of the Chinese people, and this respect should be known to the whole world!" The film will be released nationwide on August 8.

In the poster, all rescued British prisoners of war stood on the shore and solemnly saluted the China fishermen on the island. They faced fishermen who used small boats and pairs of bare hands to rescue 384 prisoners of war from the Japanese army's hail of bullets. The fishermen on the shore bowed their fists in return. They were men and women, old and young, dressed in simple coarse fishing jackets, but they could not conceal the tenacity that came from their bones and could withstand the wind and waves. At that time, the fishermen in Zhoushan did not hesitate for a moment because of national boundaries or language. Even if they were facing the Japanese army armed with bullets, even if they were unarmed and might never return, they still went to sea without hesitation, just because of the saying,"If there is a danger at sea, we must rescue them." ancestral teachings passed down from generation to generation. With the simple kindness in their instincts and the blood in their bones, they extended a helping hand to the British prisoners of war they had never met, and also let the world see the courage and responsibility of the Chinese people.

To this day, even though all the surviving prisoners of war are no longer alive, the "thank you" has been passed down from generation to generation. "If it weren't for the help of China fishermen and the Japanese stopped shooting, my father would not have lived to this day." Eighty-three years later, Mrs. Winnie, daughter of surviving prisoner of war Dennis Morley, is still very grateful. She recalled that her father had asked her before he died: "Please pay tribute to the fishermen on the East Pole Island on my behalf." In 2022, Mrs. Winnie sent a letter to President Xi Jinping and received a reply. In his reply, President Xi Jinping pointed out that "the touching story of fishermen from Zhoushan, Zhejiang Province, China's heroic rescue of British prisoners of war on the ship Lisbon Maru in 1942 was an important witness to China and Britain fighting side by side as allies in the Second World War and jointly resisting fascist aggression. It is also a historical story of the deep friendship between the two peoples." That trip to sea was a gesture of goodwill and responsibility regardless of gains and losses. That salute was a gratitude that lasted for 83 years. Walking into the theater on August 8, let the truth reappear, and let the world see the unchanging bloody kindness of the China people and their consistent responsibility as a great country!
