French Ambassador to China Bai Yutang attended the ceremony to kick off the French film show in 2023. The French film show is organized by the French Film Federation (Unifrance) and co-organized by the French Embassy in China. Since the first session was held in Beijing in 2004, French film shows have been actively promoting French films to Chinese audiences and promoting cultural exchanges between China and France as part of the "Sino-French Cultural Spring" for many years. With the joint efforts of various copyright holders and cooperative cinemas, this year's French film exhibition has brought eight recent French feature films to Chinese audiences, showing the diversity of contemporary French films.

At the same time, Ambassador Bai Yutang thanked Lou Ye, Ambassador of 2022 French Film Show and Promotion, and awarded Mr. Lou Ye the Knight Medal of French Art and Literature. The French order of Arts and Literature was established by the French Ministry of Culture in 1957 to honor French and foreigners who have enjoyed a high reputation in the field of culture and art all over the world or who have made special achievements and outstanding contributions to the promotion of French and world culture. it is one of the four ministerial medals of honor in France, and it is also a special honor awarded by the French government to the cultural and artistic circles.

In his award speech, the ambassador introduced the career of director Lou Ye and his origin with France. Lou Ye's works have not only been selected for many times at the Cannes International Film Festival, but also have been co-produced by China and France, among which "the intoxicated Night of Spring Wind" won the Best Screenplay Award at the 62nd Cannes Film Festival. In particular, director Lou Ye also shot a French film "Flowers" in France. Next, Ambassador Bai Yutang awarded and wore the Knight Medal of French Art and Literature to Mr. Lou Ye.

In his speech, director Lou Ye first thanked the working partners of China and France over the years, as well as the support of various French institutions in the co-production process, and mentioned that he served as the French film exhibition promotion ambassador in 2022.
