The State Administration of China convenes OTT licensees to standardize operations, strictly investigate and correct

At this communication meeting, the State Administration of China required all licensees to further strengthen the standardized management of the content, business and other aspects of existing cooperative Internet TV terminals (including all-in-one machines) in accordance with the relevant requirements of Document No. 181, especially those involving copyright and serious violations of the management requirements of Document No. 181 must be cleaned up internally. On September 9, the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television convened some Internet TV licensees in Beijing to discuss the management of Internet TV terminals and existing business conditions.

According to people familiar with the matter, this brief communication meeting was also an advance self-examination based on this background. The management of Internet TV will become stricter in the future, and it is not only the requirements of the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television, but also the will of national information security.

It is reported that on September 9, the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television convened some Internet TV licensees in Beijing to hold a brief communication meeting on Internet TV terminal management, standardized operation of existing business conditions, and self-examination and self-correction.

It is reported that at this communication meeting, the State Administration of China required all licensees to further strengthen the standardized management of the content, business and other aspects of existing cooperative Internet TV terminals (including all-in-one machines) in accordance with the relevant requirements of Document No. 181, especially for acts involving copyright and serious violations of the management requirements of Document No. 181 must be cleaned up internally. Since the country launched the Jianwang Operation in 2013, the management of network infringement on the Internet has gradually extended from content management to terminal-based carrier management. Internet TV has become the key management target of the Jianwang Action in recent years due to its open platform, high communication influence and wide terminal coverage. It is reported that in the second half of this year, multiple ministries and commissions such as the Public Security, Industry and Commerce, and the State Administration will jointly investigate and punish Internet TV violations and illegal activities.
