Founded in 2007, Kindle Entertainment is headquartered in London and mainly produces children's TV series and comedy content. In the past six years, the company has not only produced a number of shows broadcast on the BBC Children's Channel such as "Jamillah and Aladdin" and "Hank Zipzer", but has also won the "Best Independent Production Company" award three times at the Children's Bafta Awards. The BBC Children's Channel (CBBC) online drama "Dixi", which won the "Best Digital Original Program" at the 2015 C21 International TV Series Award, was also launched by Kindle Entertainment.

The stake marks Lionsgate's first entry into the British television production industry. Kindle Entertainment will increase the production of prime-time comedy and TV series content.

Previously, Lionsgate had been focusing on film distribution in the European market. It has released American dramas such as Orange is the New Black, Mad Men and The Royals.
