The movie "Girl" written and directed by Shu Qi was announced to be scheduled for November 1. This high-profile work is not only Shu Qi's director's debut, but also a film that combines his personal growth experience and takes ten years to carefully write and polish. The director's special "Shu Qi and the Girl" released by the film reveals for the first time Shu Qi's creative journey and guidance details on the shooting scene. Shu Qi used "peeling onions" as a metaphor for the creative process and admitted that every peeling was like a touch to an inner wound, saying that the film was dedicated to all girls who had had similar experiences. The film is co-starred by powerful actor Qiu Ze, cross-border goddess Tang Yuqi (9m88), potential rookie Bai Xiaoying and the youngest actress of the Golden Horse Award, Lin Pintong. Producer Ye Rufen, photography director Yu Jingping, art director Huang Meiqing, art director Tu Shuofeng, styling director Xu Liwen, original music director Lin Qiang, editing director Zhang Shuping, sound designer Wu Shuyao and Du Duzhi, etc., are working hard to enhance the quality of the film.
Shu Qi admitted that the filming process was like "peeling onions" touching past injuries, turning fear into strength and transmitting it
For Shu Qi,"Girl" is not only an important milestone since she started filming, but also a creative journey of facing herself honestly and bravely analyzing her heart. In the director's special, Shu Qi recalled that as early as 2009, director Hou Xiaoxian encouraged her to "write her own story" and told her: "There are not so many frames in making a movie. If you want to make and do it is the main motivation." This sentence became the starting point of her creative path. In the next ten years, Shu Qi wrote the script intermittently, and even thought about giving up at one point, but in the end he persisted. The film focuses on the pressures faced by families and children in the era of economic development, as well as the struggle and growth of women at the junction of tradition and the new era. She admitted that during the filming process, she peeled off herself layer by layer like an onion and looked straight into the dark side of her childhood deep in her memory. The domestic violence involved in the film was once a scar in her heart: "I thought I was fine, but when I touched it again, the wound was still there." She also said that she was just writing the story of a girl, but as the filming deepened, Shu Qi realized that this work belonged to more people: "This is a story dedicated to all girls." Photography director Yu Jingping expressed emotionally that she was deeply moved by Shu Qi: "She shared her inner fear or her strength with everyone."
Shu Qi's first director devoted himself to the drama and often talked with tears in his eyes, and was praised by the actors as "full of security"
As a director, Shu Qi showed strong professionalism and emotional investment on the set, creating a creative environment full of security and trust for everyone. Do it yourself on the set and personally demonstrate the details of the performance, and carefully guide the actors from expressions, movements to breathing rhythm to help them become more involved in the role's emotions. Starring Qiu Ze, Tang Yuqi (9m88), Bai Xiaoying and Lin Pintong all said that Shu Qi's directing style was impressive. Qiu Ze, who has been in full support of her since the creative stage, shared: "It's very safe to work with Director Shu Qi. She knows exactly what she wants and knows how to relax the actors on the scene." Tang Yuqi (9m88), who challenged the lead role on the big screen for the first time, said: "The director is very hands-on. He will carefully explain the character's emotions and thoughts in every scene, and will drive the audience with an" emotion all in "state. Every time he talks, his eyes are already red." Bai Xiaoying, who plays the girl "Lin Xiaoli", revealed: "Director Shu Qi is always full of vitality at the scene and exudes positive energy all over her. She will personally demonstrate and enlighten me in an instant." Lin Pintong, who plays the role of transfer student "Lili", also shared: "Director Shu Qi is very chill every day at the scene and is the best role model in my heart."
Set in an era of rapid economic development, the film describes the story of girls growing up between tradition and the new era. It peers at that contradictory era through a female perspective and sublimates personal life experience into a resonant poem that belongs to all women. Shu Qi spent ten years completing a self-healing process. She also hopes to use this film to present the plight and growth of a generation of women and provide warm hugs to all girls who have experienced similar injuries.
The film "Girl" is produced by Huawenchuang Co., Ltd., Jiaying Film Co., Ltd., Haina Baichuan Film and Art Integration Co., Ltd., Zhonghuan International Entertainment Co., Ltd., and Huaneng International Entertainment Co., Ltd., introduced by China Film Group Corporation, and released by Huaxia Film Distribution Co., Ltd., and will be released nationwide on November 1. The big screen jointly witnesses the sincerity and courage of girls.
