[Watching Entertainment at the Two Sessions] Guo Jianhua: Increase efforts to build digital cinemas in towns and rural areas
This is the second time in three years that Guo Jianhua, a 63-year-old National People's Congress representative and rural film projectionist, visited 95-year-old film artist Yu Lan during the two sessions. Guo Jianhua has been engaged in rural film screening for 42 years.
This year, Guo Jianhua put forward the proposal of "building digital cinemas in qualified towns and villages across the country." She hopes that every audience can enjoy the dividends of the rapid development of the film industry and see the movies they want to see at their doorstep.
"Build a modern public cultural service system and implement projects such as citizen morality construction and Chinese cultural inheritance. We must not only make the people's material life more solid, but also make the people's spiritual life richer."
This is the second time in three years that Guo Jianhua, a 63-year-old National People's Congress representative and rural film projectionist, visited 95-year-old film artist Yu Lan during the two sessions. Two heroines who have worked hard for China films all their lives, talked about rural areas, movies and children's films when they met.
Guo Jianhua started showing movies at the age of 19 and has been showing movies all her life. People in the circle affectionately called her "the old lady who showed movies." Guo Jianhua liked Yu Lan's movies. When "Eternal Life in the Fire" was screened in rural areas, Guo Jianhua played it for 18 consecutive days, and the fate was settled early. When he comes to Beijing for a meeting, Guo Jianhua will visit Yu Lan when he has the opportunity.
Create more and better children's films for children
As representatives of China's best projectionists and best actors, the two kind elderly people care about children's films most. "Today's children are not short of rice or lack of money. What they lack is excellent spiritual food." Guo Jianhua said,"I have been calling for increased support for children's film creation and to shoot more and better children's films for children."
Yu Lan encouraged young creators to give full play to their imagination."The success of" Thunderbolt Beibei "lies in its rich imagination." As a former member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, Yu Lan once proposed to show two children's films for children every semester to educate children in art forms that are popular with movies. Speaking of emotions, Yu Lan also wrote down her expectations for the creation of children's films: "Create more and better stories for children. Create real characters, characters with rich imagination, especially real characters living at the grassroots level!"
Performing is not an easy task
. When talking about Yu Lan's masterpiece, Guo Jianhua praised it: "Eternal Life in the Fire","Revolutionary Family"... are both movies that the majority of rural areas and student audiences like. She once played one to two hundred games at a time.
Talking about his experience in shaping these characters, Yu Lan's experience is that he must go deep into life, into the countryside, and into the people. "I'm from the north and I can speak Mandarin, but I didn't understand acting at first. I learned it bit by bit from the old actors."
"After so many of your movies have been shown, I like the scene at Sister Jiang's execution ground the most!" Guo Jianhua said. "That is to go deep into life. I have never done secret work. Many of my roles are to consult the old Red Army. They have a life, and as soon as they communicate with characters, they will live." Yu Lan said,"For example, the simplest knocking scene is in the red area or the white area. Is the person knocking on the door one of our own? Do you hear me clearly? How to open the door? Listening to the old Red Army talk about their struggle experience, all of a sudden there was an atmosphere of underground work."
I heard that many young people are now applying for art schools to study acting. Yu Lan, who has been there, said bluntly that it is difficult. "Performing is not such a simple matter. It requires an in-depth understanding of the cultural traditions of the nation and solid professional training."
Recalling the days when he learned "Stanislavsky" from experts at the Drama Academy, Yu Lan said,"Performance requires a process, a crying scene. You have to know the entire emotional process of the character's tears. Only by finding this process can you achieve it. The effect is not just a few tears squeeze out."
Although he is already 95 years old, Yu Lan remembers everything about the performance and role clearly in his heart. Before leaving, Yu Lan took out the book "Reading Life Without Suffering and Happiness" he had written and gave it to Guo Jianhua. On the title page of the book, Yu Lan wrote,"Guo Jianhua is grateful to save my memory." After writing, he specially found a tissue to cover the ink. Yu Lan said to Guo Jianhua that this is a commemoration between us.
Building digital cinemas in qualified towns and villages
As a representative of the 11th and 12th National People's Congress, Guo Jianhua submitted a proposal to "build digital cinemas in small and medium-sized cities across the country" in 2009 and was included in the national "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" development plan. According to statistics, as of the end of 2015, there were 3241 county-level cinemas with 12777 screens across the country.
From the first to the sixth day of the Spring Festival this year, the national movie box office exceeded 3 billion yuan in six days, setting a record high, and many market records were refreshed accordingly. Looking at the hot scenes in the movie theater, Guo Jianhua, a representative of the National People's Congress, was deeply moved and uncomfortable."In our movie theater in Kaifeng County, Henan Province, people came from sixty or seventy miles away to watch movies. They couldn't watch them enough after watching three games in a row."
The emotion of an old projectionist was reflected in the performance of deputies to the National People's Congress. This year, Guo Jianhua put forward the proposal of "building digital cinemas in qualified towns across the country." She hopes that every audience can enjoy the dividends of the rapid development of the film industry and see the movies they want to see at their doorstep.
During the "Eleventh Five-Year Plan" period, the state allocated 2.5 billion yuan to promote the digital screening of rural films, including purchasing equipment, vehicles, and services, and the amount of supporting funds in various places also exceeded 2.5 billion yuan. Under the guidance of digital technology, rural film screenings have regained their vitality. By the end of the "Eleventh Five-Year Plan", 640,000 administrative villages across the country have basically achieved the goal of "showing one movie per month in one village."
During the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" period, the country began to accelerate the construction of cinemas in small and medium-sized cities in the central and western regions. At the end of July 2011, the Propaganda Department of the CPC Central Committee and the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television organized and held an on-site meeting on the construction of digital cinemas in county-level cities in Tangshan, Hebei Province, requiring that by the end of 2015, all county-level cities across the country should have digital film screening venues.
Guo Jianhua said that the "Eleventh Five-Year Plan" will allow farmers to watch movies again, and the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" will allow county residents to watch movies in modern cinemas. During the "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan" period, the country has the ability and should allow towns and rural areas with better conditions across the country to enjoy the latest and most fashionable movie feast as soon as possible, like audiences in large cities.
She suggested,"Under the excellent situation that commercial markets in first-tier cities and rural public welfare markets go hand in hand, we should increase the construction of grassroots public cultural service systems, especially the extension of urban and rural fringe areas, suburban remote areas and grassroots township cinemas, and gradually improve grassroots viewing conditions to achieve the transition from outdoor to indoor, from standing to sitting, and from seeing to watching movies."
"Increase policy support and funding investment to build township and rural cinemas in qualified areas across the country, so that audiences can not be exposed to the wind and rain, and can see excellent domestic films in spring and winter." Guo Jianhua said.
Using movies as a carrier to publicize the law.
As a representative of the National People's Congress from the rural grassroots cultural front, Guo Jianhua is well aware of the importance of building a socialist culture of rule of law. He also knows that to guide and cultivate rural farmers 'legal concepts and legal awareness, we must rely on Popular communication means.
Since the rural digital film screening project of "showing one movie per month in one village" has been fully covered, by producing targeted films, scientific and educational films and feature films, the films are easy to understand, have rich sound and emotion, and are most popular among the audience. In the popularization of law in rural areas, we can often achieve twice the result with half the effort.
Guo Jianhua has been engaged in rural film screening for 42 years. In her 21 years as a projectionist, she personally screened more than 13,000 films for audiences; in her 21 years as a stationmaster and manager, she organized and screened more than 140,000 films, reaching hundreds of millions of viewers. Especially in recent years, with the strong support of the National People's Congress and the Discipline Inspection Commission of Xiangfu District, Kaifeng City (Kaifeng County), Henan Province, more than 30,000 feature films and science and education films have been screened to promote integrity and law enforcement, with more than 1.5 million viewers. Taking advantage of the film's rich sound and emotion and its "silent" method, the effect of promoting integrity and law enforcement has been better achieved and has been welcomed by the broad masses of rural people.
Guo Jianhua suggested that relevant departments innovate judicial concepts, focus on using film means to enhance the effect of legal popularization in rural areas, let the publicity and education of the rule of law go out of boring preaching, let the broad masses of rural people subtly accept legal knowledge through pleasant experiences, and let the law truly enter the hearts of farmers, help rural people establish and strengthen their awareness of the legal system and the concept of the rule of law, and then become advocates, adherents and defenders of the law.
