In January 2016, Wanda Cinema Line and Dolby jointly announced an agreement to open 100 Dolby Cinema in China in the next five years. After the first batch of four Dolby Cinema, Wanda Cinema plans to expand the number of Dolby Cinema in operation in China to 10 by the end of December 2016. Cities planning to open Dolby Cinema soon include Beijing and Chengdu.

Legendary Pictures and Universal Pictures 'blockbuster "Warcraft" became the first Dolby Cinema film released in China.
