The development of online literature in the past 20 years has advanced from "products are king" and "channels are king" to today's "content is king" era. The higher demand of "content is king" is "fine products are king." After the "barbaric pioneering" stage, it has gradually become a consensus in the industry that online literature must follow the path of high-quality creation.

According to the "39th Statistical Report on the Development of Internet Users in China" released by China Internet Network Information Center, the online literature industry entered a healthy development track in 2016. Piracy and infringement issues that have long hindered the development of the industry were severely cracked down, and the copyright environment has been significantly improved. As of December 2016, the scale of online literature users grew rapidly, of which the number of mobile online literature users increased by 44.69 million compared with the end of last year, accounting for 43.7% of mobile Internet users.

At the beginning of 2017,"Lonely Fragrance Don't Appreciate Yourself" and "Sansheng III Ten Miles Peach Blossom" were hit one after another, officially kicking off the boom year of IP dramas. The IP dividends of online literature are being released one after another in the film and television industry.

In recent years, online literature has developed rapidly.

Recently, Yue Guan and Angel Oscar, two "great Internet writers" who are good at writing historical themes, announced their new trends in Beijing, switching clubs, signing contracts with Palm Reader and launching two new works,"Carefree Journey" and "Prosperity of the Tang Dynasty". Serialization. This is one of the first "Premium Content Full Platform Sharing Plan" projects launched by many digital reading platforms such as Palm Reader, Baidu Literature, and Chinese Online after they announced the establishment of the "Original Alliance."

Yue Guan was once a platinum writer at Qidian and an excellent writer of online overhead historical novels. His "Back to the Ming Dynasty to Be a Prince" has won many awards in the online literature world, and a film and television drama adapted of the same name is also being produced. Angel Oscar's representative works,"1911 New China" and "Luan Qing", are also very excellent online historical novels with solid historical foundations. It is understood that signing two writers is the first step in reading the 2017 "Focus on Quality Content" layout.

With market capital leaning towards IP works, online literary works that are the source of IP film and television dramas adapted were purchased and developed in a short period of time, and outstanding works accumulated over more than ten years were "exhausted" within two years. "Almost all of the IP works that have hit the market in the past two years have more than ten years of creation." You Ting, vice president of Palm Review, gave several examples."Zhu Xian", which had more than 20 billion video views, was created in 2003,"Legend of Zhen Huan" was created in 2003, the "Ghost Blows the Lantern" series, which had a popular box office hit, was created in 2006, and "Tomb Robber Notes" also began to be created in 2006.

In the past 20 years, the number of online literature users has exceeded 300 million, and the number of daily updates has reached 150 million. According to incomplete statistics, the total number of original works on the top 30 key online literature websites in the domestic market share reaches more than 10 million, with nearly 2 million new works added every year. What does not match the total growth is the rare number of high-quality masterpieces that can have widespread impact, while issues such as plagiarism, homogenization, and machine software writing are constantly causing social controversy.

Xiao Jinghong, a researcher at the China Writers Association and deputy director of the Office of the National Internet Literature Key Garden Work Association, pointed out that the threshold for online writing is low and the update intensity is high. In recent years, the IP craze has continued to heat up. The profits of online article adaptation are large, and the market demand is high. These have not only given rise to the typology of online novels, but also objectively contributed to the utilitarian psychology of online novel creators. Therefore, it is not surprising that "one book plagifies more than 200 books."

You Ting also analyzed that around 2004, online literature was still in the interest creation cycle, and many very good-looking novels appeared. In this era of big data, the production of content is often dominated by users, and users can produce whatever they like to watch. This is also an important reason for the emergence of a large number of homogeneous content.

Yue Guan, who has experienced the entire development stage of online literature, believes that "the marketization of online literature has temporarily given rise to the phenomenon of bad money driving out good money, but this is a process of sweeping away the sand, and good works will eventually stay." Yue Guan expressed concern about the current IP craze,"Film and television companies don't know that much about online literature. Many online novels that we buy cannot be called IP. The development direction of IP should also be high-quality."

The development of online literature in the past 20 years has advanced from "products are king" and "channels are king" to today's "content is king" era. The higher demand of "content is king" is "fine products are king." Not long ago, the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television recommended 18 excellent online literature masterpieces to the public, demonstrating its intention to guide the creation of fine works. After the "barbaric pioneering" stage, it has gradually become a consensus in the industry that online literature must follow the path of high-quality creation.

Online writer Tang Xintian said that in the past, many online literature writers created mainly to earn more income, but in 2016, many writers raised their writing to the level of a career."Everyone began to think about what kind of thing they wrote could ferment to. How far can it spread in this field, or how long it will last?"

Xu Bin, general manager of Baidu Literature, was one of the first people to enter the online literature industry. He believes that although the pressure of marketization has distorted online literature, in essence, good content still needs to be market-oriented operations and competition. Only then can it appear. However, purely commercial creation will not be the biggest source of benefits for authors, because it has no long-term vitality.

You Ting said that the development of the online literature market has always evolved from openness to closure and then to openness. The original intention of establishing the "Original Alliance" is to create a benign online literature creation environment so that more outstanding writers can return to the creation itself. This is the basis for producing high-quality masterpieces.

Question: Why did you choose to convert the creation platform?

Yue Guan: After writing online articles for more than ten years, the words created on the Internet have gradually become books, films and television. As an author, his own needs and pursuits are also growing and expanding step by step. People like the Third Uncle of the Southern School and Tianxia Ba Sing have taken the initiative to intervene in the development of various derivatives of their works relatively early. The new platform has given me great freedom and various support in creation, and it is a new fertile soil for me.

Question: What do you think of the issue of plagiarism and piracy of online literature?

Yue Guan: I think this depends on the role of the legal system. Now the country is very strong in cracking down on piracy, and the effect is very obvious. Solving this problem requires various efforts. A good phenomenon is that young people use electronic products since childhood, and their awareness of payment and copyright is stronger, which is very important. The marketization of online literature has temporarily given rise to the phenomenon of bad money driving out good money. Although it is currently disorderly, this is a process of sweeping away the sand, and good works will eventually stay.

Question: What are the materials and themes of the new work "Xiaoyao"?

Yue Guan: Actually, I have been trying different styles. I have written about history, fantasy, and urban. This book is set in the Zhenguan period of the Tang Dynasty. It is neither from the perspective of palace battles nor the emperors and generals in the drama. Instead, it puts the perspective between the markets and writes about the "bad people" of the Tang Dynasty, which is equivalent to the story of ancient film police officers. I have also made a new attempt. Aliens appear in my work. Some readers are asking whether this is science fiction or history. I don't think this is a problem. Some writers have made successful attempts. The key is how to balance the relationship between different types and maintain the ancient charm.

Question: How much influence do readers 'thoughts affect you?

Yue Guan: I think it is most important to stick to your own ideas. Readers 'opinions are often just instinctive reactions of "happy or unhappy", which are difficult to adjust. However, it is impossible to completely disrespect readers' opinions. Whether you are right or wrong requires you to have your own judgment.

Question: You are also involved in script creation. Do you have a special tendency to select materials?

Yue Guan: Not in this regard. You can try urban and historical things. Writers who write stories and characters well are more advantageous to write scripts, because novels and scripts are different, and scripts rely on dialogue and other practical methods to create characters. But no matter which one is, the principles and laws are the same.

Question: What are the plans for the future?

Yue Guan: On the one hand, he is serializing a long piece on the website, and on the other hand, he is writing a script. I have now given up attracting fans and readers through a large number of updates, but instead gain recognition through other forms after my works have been transformed. There are many ideas, and words need to be written word by word. This time cannot be saved. In the future, we may adopt a collective creation method, and I will control the overall quality.
