Netflix partnered with the University of Southern California to conduct a study in which they showed testers videos of different quality and then asked them which videos looked more pleasing to the eye.

They then used the research results to train the AI neural network to have the ability to judge video quality. Netflix plans to use this AI Social networks to improve the picture of videos one by one and use as little data as possible without sacrificing file quality.

Daredevil is a live-action movie full of special effects and scenes, while centaur pojak is an animated film. Obviously, the storage space required to save the centaur's Bojak video must be smaller than the storage space required to save the Daredevil, because the animation's image is relatively less detailed.

Because AI encoding is done shot by shot, this means that videos of varying visual complexity can be optimized without necessarily consuming unnecessary bandwidth with sufficient detail.

Ye Lin gave a live demonstration using Marvel's upcoming action film "Iron Fist". One version is encoded using traditional encoding methods, and the other version is processed using artificial intelligence encoding technology. The visual effects of the two versions are basically the same, but the streaming bandwidth of the traditional encoded version is 555kbps, and the streaming bandwidth of the AI-encoded version is 227kbps, which is just half of the former.

The technology has not yet been officially launched, but will be launched in the next two months. It will initially be applied to mobile video content, but Netflix definitely plans to extend the technology to desktops and smart TV platforms, where viewers don't have to do anything and do everything automatically in the background.
