SARFT: it plans to set up channels for minors

On March 16, the State Administration of radio and television issued a notice on public solicitation of opinions on the radio and Television Law of the people's Republic of China (Draft for comments). The exposure draft points out that radio and television program integrated broadcasting institutions should establish and improve mechanisms such as the Commissioner for the protection of minors and the Committee for the evaluation of minors' programs through the establishment of special frequency channels for minors, special time periods for minors, special areas for minors' programs, minors' models and other measures, so as to prevent the commercialization, adulthood and excessive entertainment of minors' programs, and protect the legitimate rights and interests of minors. If a radio and television program contains content that may affect the physical and mental health of minors, the integrated broadcasting agency of radio and television programs shall give a prompt in a prominent way and reasonably arrange the broadcasting time and layout
